Nylon started off after its invention in 1935 by a
researcher of the American firm Dupont. In the very
beginning of synthetic fibres, nylon was made of ¡Èlime,
air and water¡É and said to be ¡Èfiner than a spider¡Çs
thread, more beautiful than silk and stronger than
steel¡É.
The discovery of nylon took place in the beginning
of the age of synthetic fibres.
It was in 1985 that polyester first appeared in Japan.
At present it occupies around 50% of the synthetic
fibres in Japan.
1.Nylon
Nylon is a strong, light and
soft material with high stretchability and excellent
elasticity, that doesn¡Çt wrinkle easily. Among
synthetic fibres, it absorbs moisture comparatively
well and is easy to dye. It is therefore used
for bicycle gloves and all kinds of cold weather
gloves.
2.Polyester
After nylon, polyester is the
strongest material. Not only is it strong and
supple, it also boasts outstanding resilience
and durability.
How
to take care of nylon and polyester¡¦¡¦¡¦¡¦
Please
avoid the use of thinner, benzine and the like, as
they might cause change of colour and shape.
Please keep in a cool and dry place.
Please don¡Çt put
it close to fire or hot items as this might cause
a change in quality or shape.
In case the leather
has become dirty, rub it lightly with an eraser-type
cleaner or slap it with a damp lukewarm cloth, while
being careful not to make circular stains.
Storage in warm and wet conditions is a major cause
of mold, so keep it in an airy place.
Before use, be sure to read the quality label carefully.
Fleece
is a material with hair on both sides that originally
indicated a kind of long-haired thick wool.¡¡But recently
it has become the talk-of-the-town that it is produced
by recycling PET bottles. It is unsurpassed in warmth,
sturdy, and can be washed with ordinary detergents.
How to take care of fleece¡¦¡¦¡¦¡¦
Caution! Kneading
during washing makes the hairs brittle.
When washing,
turn the fleece inside out and put it in a washing
net.
Fleece is susceptible to friction, so refrain
from hard scrubbing.
Please read the quality label carefully before
use.
2.Jersey
First
of all, jersey is elastic because it is made on a
loom. Then, it can be divided into ¡Ènatural fibres¡É
and ¡Èsynthetic fibres¡É
Since the very fibres of wool itself contain air,
it preserves warmth. On the other hand, synthetic
fibres are made in imitation of natural material and
are therefore easy to wash and treat.
How to treat jersey¡¦¡¦¡¦¡¦
Use water of
around 30¡î and a neutral detergent, wring lightly,
reshape it and hang it out to dry in the shade.
This
material is made in imitation of natural leather by
adding resin and the like to cloth made by weaving
and knitting threads.
How to take care of it¡¦¡¦¡¦¡¦
Dirt is removed
by rubbing lightly with a pencil eraser type
cleaner or by wiping with a cloth that has been
immersed in water or a diluted detergent and
then wrung out.
Caution! Storing
in an airless place might cause deterioration.
Please
read the quality label carefully before use.
Upon hearing ¡Æyarn¡Ç
most people will think of sweaters and mufflers, but
various yarns are used for gloves as well. Let¡Çs look
at some representative ones!
1.Wool
Around the world almost 1100
million sheep are being reared. Wool generally
means the fur of merino sheep. They can be found
in Australia, New Zealand and France. About
80% of the wool exported to Japan is merino.
It is a fine, high-quality wool boasting supple
elasticity.
2.Acryl
Everything started with the
discovery of acrylonitrile, a derivative of
oil that was developed in the 19th century,
and forms the main raw material for acryl. Of
all synthetic fibres, soft and warm acryl is
the material that most resembles wool.
But it is stronger and has better resistance
against friction, and because of its low absorption
rate, it dries quickly.
3.Angora
Angora is a kind of rabbit¡Çs
fur. The fur of angora rabbits is longer and
thinner than ordinary fur. It is lacking in
strength and elasticity, but very soft to the
touch.
4.Kashmir
Kashmir originates from China
and India. Breeding is only possible in the
low temperatures of high-altitude( 3-4.000m)
mountains. Kashmir sheep have a rough outer
coat to withstand the severe environment, but
Kashmir wool consists of the fine hairs close
to the body that prevent the body temperature
from dropping.
How to take care of acryl¡¦¡¦¡¦¡¦
Please
use a neutral detergent and wash lightly by hand.
Use water of around
30¡î, wring lightly by hand and dry flat in the shade.
